Milesight WS301-868M is a compact magnetic open/close sensor for doors, windows, cabinets, and other movable elements. The reed switch detects a change in the magnet position at a distance of approximately 10–15 mm and transmits the information via the LoRaWAN 868 MHz network.
The device features tamper detection, an LED indicator, and supports Milesight D2D, enabling direct cooperation with compatible Milesight devices. The fully wireless design, NFC configuration, and replaceable 1200 mAh battery make it easy to deploy door and window monitoring in offices, warehouses, technical facilities, and Smart Building systems.

WS301 — Wireless Monitoring of Doors, Windows and Cabinets
Milesight WS301 is a compact magnetic sensor designed for monitoring the open and closed status of doors, windows, cabinets, and other movable elements.
The sensor is mounted on the fixed part of the structure, while the magnet is installed on the movable element. Moving the magnet away causes the device to detect an opening and can immediately generate a message transmitted via the LoRaWAN network.
Simple Access Monitoring Without Wiring
Open / Closed
The magnetic reed switch automatically detects a change in the status of a door, window, or other monitored element.
Tamper Detection
A dedicated tamper button detects attempts to remove or manipulate the installed device.
Fully Wireless
Battery power and LoRaWAN communication make it possible to deploy monitoring without running power or communication cables.
Where Can the WS301 Be Used?
Magnetic Reed Switch with a 10–15 mm Detection Range
Immediate Notification of Status Changes
A change in the position of the magnet relative to the sensor can be immediately recorded as an opening or closing of the monitored element.
The information can be transmitted via LoRaWAN to the supervisory system and used to create alarms, automation scenarios, and event history.
Alarm When an Attempt Is Made to Remove the Device
Tamper Button
The WS301 features a dedicated mechanism for detecting attempts to remove the sensor from its installation location.
Remote Alarm
A tamper event can be transmitted via LoRaWAN to the monitoring system together with information about the device status.
LED Indicator
The built-in LED indicates the device status and can signal events related to sensor operation.
Local Automation Without a Gateway
The WS301 supports Milesight D2D, enabling direct communication between compatible Milesight devices using LoRa technology.
Opening a door or window can therefore trigger a local automation action without waiting for transmission through a gateway and cloud system.
Compact Wireless Design
3M Tape
The sensor and magnet can be mounted directly on a flat surface using double-sided tape.
Screw Mounting
Mechanical installation using screws is possible in locations requiring more permanent mounting.
Compact Dimensions
The compact enclosure allows the WS301 to be discreetly installed on doors, windows, cabinets, and other movable elements.
Communication, Power Supply and Design
* The manufacturer specifies approximately 6,8 years of operation at SF7 / EU868, a regular reporting interval of 1080 minutes, approximately 30 events per day, and a temperature of 25°C. At SF10 / EU868, the declared battery life is approximately 4,2 years. Actual battery life depends on configuration, radio conditions, and the number of events.
WS301 in an Access Monitoring System
Information about the status of a door or window can be transmitted via LoRaWAN to a gateway and then to a central monitoring system. This makes it possible to supervise multiple access points and automatically respond to events.
