Milesight WS202-868M is a compact LoRaWAN PIR occupancy and light intensity sensor designed for smart offices, schools, warehouses, and Smart Building systems. The sensor detects movement at a range of up to 8 m, with a maximum detection field of 120° horizontally and 100° vertically.
The built-in light sensor operates within a range of 1–60 000 lx and makes it possible to determine Bright/Dark status according to a configured threshold. Milesight D2D support enables direct control of compatible devices, such as lighting, without using a LoRaWAN gateway. The 1650 mAh battery provides approximately 4,2 years of operation at SF7/EU868 under the manufacturer's test conditions.

WS202 — Occupancy and Brightness as the Basis for Intelligent Control
Milesight WS202 is a wireless sensor combining PIR motion and occupancy detection with light intensity measurement in the room.
The device makes it possible to determine whether a given space is currently occupied and whether the lighting conditions are sufficient. Data can be transmitted via LoRaWAN or used locally through Milesight D2D for automatic control of lighting and other building systems.
Automation Responding to Occupancy and Light Level
PIR up to 8 m
The wide-angle PIR sensor detects motion and room occupancy at distances of up to 8 metres.
1–60 000 lx
The light sensor makes it possible to determine whether the room is bright or dark according to an individually configured threshold.
Milesight D2D
Direct communication with compatible devices allows automation to be triggered without waiting for communication with the server.
Where Can the WS202 Be Used?
Wide-Angle PIR Sensor with a Range of up to 8 Metres
Automatic Bright / Dark Status Detection
Light Only When It Is Needed
Combining occupancy detection with light intensity measurement makes it possible to create more advanced control scenarios than when using a motion sensor alone.
Lighting can be switched on only when occupancy is detected in the room and the light level is simultaneously below the configured value.
Direct Control Without a Gateway
The WS202 supports Milesight D2D, enabling direct communication between compatible Milesight devices using LoRa technology.
The sensor can work with Milesight wall switches and lighting controllers, among other devices, enabling local switching of lights on and off based on occupancy and brightness without the need to transmit every decision through a gateway and server.
Occupancy Data as Part of Building Automation
Lighting
Automatic lighting control depending on occupancy and the level of natural light.
Occupancy
Motion information can be used to determine current room utilisation.
Energy Savings
Automatically switching off devices in unoccupied rooms can reduce unnecessary energy consumption.
Only 50 × 50 mm and Completely Wireless Installation
Battery Powered
No need to run power cables makes installation easier in existing buildings.
3M Mounting
The sensor can be quickly mounted on a flat surface using double-sided tape.
Screw Mounting
Mechanical installation is also possible in locations requiring permanent mounting.
Communication, Power Supply and Design
* The manufacturer declares approximately 4,2 years of operation at SF7 / EU868 and approximately 2,4 years at SF10 / EU868. Test conditions: 30-minute reporting interval, 30 triggers per day, and a temperature of 25°C. Actual battery life depends on configuration and communication conditions.
WS202 in a Smart Building System
Occupancy and brightness information can be transmitted via LoRaWAN to a gateway and then to a central monitoring and building automation system.
