Milesight VA04 MSB-R/B is a multifunctional staff badge designed for use with Milesight VS125 Seriespeople counters. The distinctive badge pattern is recognized by the Staff Detection function, allowing employee passages to be automatically separated from customer traffic and excluded from visitor statistics.
VA04 can be worn on the chest or shoulder and uses magnetic fastening, with an optional pin-back version. It is available in Red & White and Black & Whiteversions. When worn on the chest, one badge is sufficient, while in shoulder mode the manufacturer requires marking both shoulders. Required VS125 counter firmware: V1.0.4 or later.

The distinctive VA04 pattern was designed so that it can be recognized by the People Counting system and the Staff Detection function.
This makes it possible to separate employee passages from customer traffic and obtain more reliable visitor, traffic and conversion statistics in retail facilities.

Distinctive pattern recognized by the VS125 counter
The surface of VA04 has a specially designed pattern that can be recognized by a compatible Milesight people counter.
After Staff Detection is enabled, the system can identify a person wearing VA04 as staff and appropriately filter their passage from customer statistics.
The solution does not require identification of a specific employee — the badge acts as an anonymous staff marker.
Staff Badge or Staff Epaulet
When VA04 is worn on the chest, marking on one side is sufficient, preferably in the central area of the upper chest.
If the shoulder method is selected, the manufacturer requires VA04 to be placed on both shoulders. This means two badges are required per employee in this mode.
Red & White or Black & White
VA04 is available in two color variants: red-and-white and black-and-white.
The color should be selected so that the badge clearly contrasts with the employee’s clothing.
Designed for Milesight VS125 Series counters
The VA04 function requires device firmware V1.0.4 or later.
In the VS125 settings, go to the Rule section, activate Staff Detection and select the appropriate mode: Staff Badge for chest use or Staff Epaulet for shoulder mounting.
People counter at a height of 2.2–4 m
For proper VA04 detection, Milesight recommends mounting the cooperating people counter at a height from 2.2 to 4 m.
When the badge is worn above the chest, the optimal counter installation-height range is 2.2–3.5 m.
Visibility and contrast matter
VA04 should remain clearly visible to the people counter mounted above the space.
The badge should not be covered by a collar, scarf, hair or other items.
Milesight recommends avoiding clothing with patterns similar to the VA04 pattern, particularly clear striped patterns.
A VA04 color contrasting with staff clothing should also be selected.
Magnetic fastening with optional pin-back version
The standard VA04 design uses magnetic fastening, allowing the badge to be quickly attached to staff clothing.
The manufacturer also provides the option of a version with Pin-Back fastening.
