Milesight UG63-868M is compact, 8-channel LoRaWAN® gateway designed for small and medium-sized IoT installations and for extending coverage in areas with weaker radio coverage. Variant 868M supports the European EU868 plan, operates in Half-Duplex mode, achieves sensitivity down to −140 dBm at 292 bps and a maximum transmit power of 27 dBm. As a packet forwarder, it can support approximately 2000 LoRaWAN® Class A/B/C devices, while the built-in Network Server can locally support up to 20 Class A/C devices and forward their data via MQTT.
UG63-868M is a variant without an LTE cellular modem, therefore communication with the Network Server or IoT platform is provided via Ethernet 10/100 Mb/s. 2,4 GHz Wi-Fi in Access Point mode is used to configure the device. The gateway has an external LoRaWAN® antenna connector, OpenVPN Client, Packet Filter and data retransmission, and can be powered via USB-C 5 V / 2 A or 5–12 V DC. Optionally, IEEE 802.3af PoE power is also possible when a suitable splitter is used. The IP30 enclosure measures Ø115 × 21 mm and weighs approximately 140 g.

Milesight UG63-868M is a compact LoRaWAN® gateway designed for building small and medium-sized IoT networks and extending coverage in locations where larger LoRaWAN® infrastructure leaves local areas with weaker signal coverage.
Variant 868M supports the European EU868 frequency plan and uses wired Ethernet as the communication interface with the Network Server, IoT platform or Internet. The UG63 platform supports the CN470, IN865, EU868, RU864, US915, AU915, KR920 and AS923-1/2/3/4 regional frequency plans.
Variant 868M is intended, among other applications, for operation under the European EU868, used in installations in Poland.
External antenna connection
The current UG63 generation has 1 external LoRaWAN® antenna connectionfunction.
The external antenna allows its position to be selected for the radio conditions of a specific facility and helps optimise infrastructure placement relative to end devices.
Approximately 2000 devices as a packet forwarder
According to the manufacturer, the UG63 can support approximately 2000 LoRaWAN® Class A/B/C devices when operating as a packet forwarder.
The actual number of devices depends on uplink and downlink communication frequency, frame length, radio parameters and utilisation of the available channels.
Compatibility with popular LoRaWAN® Network Servers
The UG63 can operate as a packet forwarder and forward packets to an external LoRaWAN® Network Server.
Supported solutions include, among others, Semtech UDP Forwarder, Basic Station TCP Forwarder, ChirpStack v3/v4, Milesight Gateway Embedded NS, DeviceHub LNS and Milesight Development Platform LNSfunction.
Additional available functions include Packet Filter and Data Retransmissionfunction.
Local support for up to 20 LoRaWAN® devices
The UG63 has built-in LoRaWAN® Network Server, allowing it to create a small local network without a separate LNS server.
The Embedded Network Server supports LoRaWAN® V1.0.3, Class A and Class C and up to 20 devices.
Application data can be forwarded to the higher-level system via MQTTfunction.
Wired backhaul via Ethernet
Cellular communication is optional equipment in the UG63 family.
Variant UG63-868M does not have an LTE modem or SIM card slot.
Connection to the Network Server, IoT platform or Internet is provided through the wired Ethernet interface.

Web, MQTT API and OpenVPN Client
The UG63 supports HTTP, HTTPS and MQTT, and configuration can be performed through the Web interface or MQTT API.
For remote management and updates, the following are available: Milesight Development Platform and DeviceHubfunction.
The device also supports OpenVPN Client, while the Ping function provides a basic diagnostic tool.
USB-C 5 V or 5–12 V DC input
The UG63 variant without cellular communication can be powered directly via USB Type-C 5 V / 2 Afunction.
Alternatively, 5–12 V DC power is available via a DC power cable.
Typical power consumption of the version without a cellular modem is approximately 1,3 W, with a maximum of approximately 3,1 W. IEEE 802.3af PoE power is possible using the optional PoE Splitter, which is not included with this variant.

The UG63 enclosure is made of PC + ABS in white.
