Milesight UC300-868M — multi-interface IoT controller for automation and remote monitoring
Milesight UC300-868M is an industrial IoT controller designed to collect data from many types of wired devices, execute local automation rules and transmit information over the LoRaWAN® network.
The device integrates 4 digital inputs, 2 relay outputs, 4 conventional analogue inputs, 2 PT100 RTD inputs, RS232 and RS485. This enables one controller to work with sensors, meters, transducers, controllers and actuators using different industrial standards.
Variant 868M is intended, among others, for operation in the European EU868 frequency plan. UC300 also supports Milesight D2D, IF-THEN rules, alarming, local data storage and retransmission, allowing it to perform some control functions independently of higher-level platform connectivity.
Integration of multiple signals and local automation in one device
Extensive I/O
Digital inputs, relays, 4–20 mA, 0–10 V, PT100, RS232 and RS485 enable integration of diverse industrial devices.
LoRaWAN® + D2D
Long-range communication can work alongside direct Milesight D2D communication between compatible devices.
Local automation
IF-THEN rules can perform programmed actions without involving the cloud or higher-level system each time.
Monitoring, automation and integration of industrial devices
4 opto-isolated DI inputs with pulse-counter function
UC300-868M has 4 opto-isolated digital inputs designed to monitor device states and binary signals.
Each input can operate as a Digital Input or Pulse Counter, allowing the controller to work with meters and devices that have a pulse output.
The input voltage range is 3–24 V DC, and the input signal frequency can be up to 4000 Hzfunction.
2 SPDT outputs for local control
The controller is equipped with 2 SPDT relay outputs, enabling actuator control.
The maximum contact load is 3 A at 30 V DC or 3 A at 250 V ACfunction.
The outputs can be used by local IF-THEN rules, allowing UC300 to automatically respond to an input change, threshold exceedance or other configured conditions.
4–20 mA and 0–10 V for industrial transducers
UC300 has 2 current inputs 4–20 mA and 2 voltage inputs 0–10 Vfunction.
This allows standard industrial pressure, level, flow, temperature and other process-variable transmitters to be connected directly.
Analogue input resolution is 12 bits. The manufacturer specifies ±5% accuracy for 4–20 mA inputs and ±1% for 0–10 V.
2 inputs for direct temperature measurement
UC300 has 2 dedicated PT100 RTD inputs, allowing resistance sensors to be connected without an additional 4–20 mA or 0–10 V transmitter.
The following connections are supported: 2- and 3-wire, and the declared range is from −200 to +800°Cfunction.
Modbus RTU device integration and transparent transmission
The controller has independent interfaces 1 × RS232 and 1 × RS485function.
RS232 supports transparent transmission, while RS485 can operate transparently or use Modbus RTUfunction.
The available transmission-speed range is 1200–115200 bpsfunction.
Long-range communication in the EU868 band
Variant 868M is intended, among other applications, for operation under the European EU868. The series also supports IN865 and RU864 in the 868 MHz module.
Maximum transmit power for 868 MHz is 16 dBm, while receiver sensitivity reaches −137 dBm at 300 bpsfunction.
UC300 can work with standard LoRaWAN® gateways and network servers, and the manufacturer’s current product platform provides for operation in Class A and Class C modes.
Direct communication between devices
UC300 supports Milesight D2D, meaning direct communication between compatible Milesight devices.
D2D can operate without a gateway or cloud platform, enabling local control dependencies with a shorter communication path.
The controller can act as a Milesight D2D Controller or Milesight D2D Agentfunction.
IF-THEN rules that also work without network access
UC300 has a local mechanism IF-THEN, enabling conditions and corresponding actions to be defined.
The manufacturer provides the ability to configure up to 16 rules. A condition can include an input value or state, while an action can switch a relay or execute a Modbus command.
Rules are executed locally, so basic automation processes can continue even during temporary loss of network connectivity.
Local storage, reading and retransmission of measurements
UC300-868M supports the functions Data Storage, Data Retrievability and Data Retransmissionfunction.
This allows data to be stored locally and missing information to be retransmitted after LoRaWAN® connectivity is restored.
The function reduces the risk of data-history gaps during short-term gateway unavailability or deteriorated radio conditions.
SMA Female 50 Ω connector for LoRaWAN® antenna
UC300-868M is equipped with 1 SMA Female 50 Ω connector intended for connecting a LoRaWAN® antenna.
The manufacturer offers, among others, an optional magnetic antenna for 868/915 MHz, allowing the antenna to be positioned appropriately relative to the controller.
5–24 V DC or 5 V via USB Type-C
The controller’s primary power supply uses 5–24 V DC via a 2-pin 3,5 mm terminal block.
The power input has surge protection and reverse-polarity protection.
Alternatively, the device can be powered with 5 V via USB Type-C, which is also used for configuration and console access.
USB Type-C and remote downlink
Port USB Type-C is used for power, local configuration and console access.
UC300 also supports remote configuration via LoRaWAN® downlink messages.
Metal enclosure for control cabinets and indoor installations
UC300 has black metal enclosure measuring 93 × 70 × 22 mm, excluding the protruding antenna connector.
The controller can be installed on a DIN rail, wall or flat surfacefunction.
The operating temperature range is −20…+60°C, and the permissible relative humidity is 0–95% non-condensing.
