UC100 LoRaWAN Modbus gateway

UC100 has 1 port RS485 provided on a 2-pin 3,5 mm terminal block.

The interface supports both standard communication Modbus RTU, as well as mode Passthrough, enabling transparent data transfer between the higher-level system and the RS485 device.

Built-in switchable termination resistor 120 Ω enables correct bus termination in installations requiring termination.

One UC100 can support up to 32 Modbus RTU devices operating on a shared RS485 bus.

The controller allows reading of up to 64 Modbus registers, whose values can then be transmitted via LoRaWAN®.

This reduces the number of communication devices needed for wireless monitoring of a larger group of existing industrial devices.

UC100-868M uses LoRaWAN® for transmitting data from Modbus devices to the gateway and onward to the higher-level system.

The 868 MHz module supports the frequency plans EU868, IN865 and RU864. Maximum transmit power is 16 dBm, while receiver sensitivity reaches −137 dBm at 300 bpsfunction.

The controller operates as a OTAA/ABP Class C, so it remains ready to quickly receive downlink messages.

Milesight offers UC100 in a version with an internal antenna and a separate EA variant equipped with a connector for an external antenna.

UC100-868M without the EA designation uses an internal antenna, so no additional antenna cable is required.

The solution works well in indoor installations where the controller is located in a place with suitable LoRaWAN® signal propagation conditions.

UC100 supports Milesight D2D, meaning direct communication between compatible Milesight devices without a LoRaWAN® gateway.

The controller can operate as both a D2D Controller, as well as D2D Agent, enabling local automation dependencies to be created.

UC100 allows configuration of up to 16 IF-THEN commands based on specified conditions and actions.

The rules are executed locally by the device, so basic processes can continue even during temporary loss of network connectivity.

This allows UC100 to be used not only as a transmission converter, but also as part of local automation logic.

Function Threshold Alarm enables a response when the configured threshold value of a read parameter is exceeded.

Change Alarm can generate an event when a specified value change occurs relative to the previous reading.

UC100 can locally store up to 800 historical data setsfunction.

Function Data Retrievability enables stored information to be read, while Data Retransmission allows missing data to be retransmitted after communication is restored.

The mechanism reduces the risk of gaps in measurement history during temporary LoRaWAN® communication problems.

UC100 supports FUOTA — Firmware Update Over-The-Air via the LoRa® network.

This allows device software to be updated after deployment without requiring physical access to the controller each time.

UC100 can be powered with 5–24 V DC via a 2-pin 3,5 mm terminal block.

The power input has surge protection and reverse-polarity protection.

Alternatively, the device can operate with 5 V / 1 A supplied via USB Type-C. Power consumption is below 0,5 Wfunction.

Port USB Type-C is used for local configuration, power supply and access to the service console.

After deployment, selected parameters can be changed remotely using LoRaWAN® Downlinkfunction.

The UC100 enclosure is made of PC+ABS in white and has an ingress protection rating of IP30function.

The device measures only 70 × 45 × 13 mm excluding connectors and weighs approximately 32 gfunction.

The controller can be placed on a flat surface or mounted on a wall.
