Milesight SS21 PN03-150 is a magnetic reed switch sensor designed to detect the opening and closing of doors, covers, or other movable elements when used with Milesight TS301 and TS302 devices. The sensor consists of two magnetic elements measuring 31 × 14 × 7,5 mm, and its detection distance is approximately 20–30 mm.
The SS21 PN03-150 features a 1,5 m cable and can be mounted using screws or 3M tape. When connected to the TS301 or TS302, it enables the open/closed state to be recorded and information to be transmitted through the LoRaWAN system of the main device. With the TS302, a PT100 temperature probe and the SS21 magnetic sensor can be used simultaneously.

Milesight SS21 PN03-150 — Magnetic Open/Close Sensor
Milesight SS21 PN03-150 is an external reed switch sensor designed to detect the open or closed state of doors, covers, cabinets, and other movable elements.
The accessory works with Milesight TS301 and TS302. The SS21 itself is not a standalone LoRaWAN sensor — it detects the position of the element, while the TS30x device handles reading, logging, and further data transmission.
The solution is particularly useful for monitoring cold rooms, refrigerators, freezers, cabinets, and other assets where opening information can be analysed together with temperature data.
Simple Monitoring of Door and Cover Status
Open / Closed
The sensor provides the TS301 or TS302 with information about the current state of the monitored element.
Up to 3 cm
The maximum detection distance is approximately 3 cm, making installation easier on different types of doors and covers.
1,5 m Cable
The long cable allows the reed switch installation point to be conveniently separated from the TS30x device.
Open/Close Monitoring in Monitoring Systems
Two Magnetic Elements Detecting a Change in Position
SS21 PN03-150 consists of two interacting magnetic elements.
One element is mounted on the fixed part, such as a frame, and the other on the door or cover. A change in the distance between them makes it possible to determine the state of the monitored element.
The TS30x documentation encodes the sensor state as closed or open, allowing the information to be logged and transmitted together with the device's other data.
Triggering at a Distance of Approximately 20–30 mm
The detailed Milesight datasheet specifies the SS21 detection range as 20–30 mm.
The manufacturer's current accessories page specifies a maximum detection distance of 3 cm.
During installation, the two elements should be positioned relative to each other to ensure correct recognition of the closed state.
Compact 31 × 14 × 7,5 mm Elements
The sensor uses two compact magnetic elements.
Each measures approximately 31 × 14 × 7,5 mm, allowing the SS21 to be installed on doors and covers without taking up much space.
1,5 m Cable
SS21 PN03-150 is equipped with a 1,5 m cable.
This allows the reed switch to be mounted directly on the monitored door or cover while the TS301 or TS302 can be positioned in a more convenient location.
Mounting with Screws or 3M Tape
Milesight provides two basic mounting methods for the SS21 PN03-150.
The elements can be secured to the mounting surface using screws or using 3M tape.
This makes it easier to adapt the installation method to the design of the door, cover, or monitored enclosure.
One Channel for a Probe or Magnetic Sensor
Milesight TS301 features one sensor port.
The port can support either a PT100 probe or the SS21 magnetic sensor.
This means that when the SS21 is used with the TS301, the single port is used to monitor the open/close state.
Temperature and Door Opening Simultaneously
TS302 features two independent sensor ports.
The manufacturer provides a configuration in which one port supports a PT100 probe and the other SS21 Magnetic Contact Switch Sensor.
This makes it possible to record temperature and door open/closed information simultaneously, which is particularly useful for monitoring cold rooms and refrigeration equipment.
Door Status as Additional Context for Temperature Measurements
Combining the SS21 with the TS302 makes it possible to correlate a temperature change with the state of the monitored door.
In practice, this makes it easier to determine whether a temporary temperature increase may have been related to opening a cold room, refrigerator, or freezer.
The event history can then be used by the supervisory system to analyse the operating conditions of the installation.
For Milesight TS301 and TS302
The current Milesight accessories page lists the SS21 PN03-150 as compatible with TS301 and TS302.
Unlike some SP11 temperature probes, the manufacturer does not list TS602 as a device compatible with the SS21.
