Pro-face PFXSP5B412 — Industrial Open Box with Windows 10 and HMI Runtime
Pro-face PFXSP5B412 is an open SP5000 Series computing module combining HMI operator panel functionality with the capabilities of an industrial computer running Windows.
The model is equipped with Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2019 LTSC 32-bit and factory-installed HMI Runtime, allowing it to run Pro-face visualisation projects while simultaneously running compatible Windows applications.
PFXSP5B412 is a Box Module — it does not have its own display. A suitable SP5000 Series Display Module is selected to create a complete operator panel.
HMI and an Open Windows Platform in One Device
Windows 10 IoT
Ability to run Windows applications in parallel with industrial operator panel functions.
HMI Runtime
The PFXSP5B412 variant has the HMI runtime environment factory-installed.
Modular Design
One Box Module can work with multiple SP5000 Display Modules of different sizes.
Advanced Operator Stations and Visualisation Systems
Variant with Factory-Installed Runtime Environment
Pro-face offers two very similar Open Box variants with Windows 10: PFXSP5B411 and PFXSP5B412.
PFXSP5B412 includes HMI Runtime as standard, while PFXSP5B411 is supplied without this environment.
HMI Runtime enables screen data prepared in a compatible Pro-face engineering environment to be executed on the device.
Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2019 LTSC
PFXSP5B412 runs under Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2019 LTSC 32-bit.
The open system platform allows the module to be used not only as a classic HMI but also as an environment for compatible Windows applications related to machine operation, visualisation and data processing.
Pro-face provides additional system tools for UART interface configuration, screen calibration, brightness management, Write Filter and HORM functions, and launching HMI Runtime.
Intel Atom E3825 and 4 GB RAM
The unit uses an industrial processor Intel Atom E3825 1,33 GHz in a Dual Core / Dual Thread configuration.
Available to the system is 4 GB DDR3L SDRAM, while graphics memory uses a UMA architecture and can use up to 256 MB of main memory.
GP-Pro EX application memory uses a CFast card. The manufacturer specifies 64 MB of screen area and approximately 17 GB of free space.
Two Gigabit Ethernet Ports
PFXSP5B412 features two RJ45 Ethernet interfaces.
Both support 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T, enabling transmission speeds of up to 1 Gb/s.
Two physical ports simplify integration of the HMI system with automation devices and the remaining Ethernet infrastructure.
2× RS-232C / RS-422 / RS-485
The module features two COM ports, each of which can operate as RS-232C, RS-422 or RS-485.
The ports use 9-pin D-Sub connectors and support transmission speeds up to 115200 bit/s.
This enables direct connection of a wide range of PLC controllers, drives, regulators and other industrial devices using serial communication.
Four USB interfaces
Open Box features 3× USB 2.0 Type-A and 1× USB 2.0 mini-B.
Each USB Type-A port can supply up to 500 mA, with a maximum total current of 1 A across all three ports.
When a suitable Premium Display Module is used, the system can additionally use the USB interfaces located on the display section.
SD and two CFast slots
PFXSP5B412 provides extensive options for using removable storage media.
The module features 1× SD slot intended for Storage memory and two CFast slots.
One CFast slot is used as system storage, while the other is used as additional Storage memory.
DVI-D Output up to 1920 × 1200 px
PFXSP5B412 features a digital DVI-D video output.
The maximum supported resolution is 1920 × 1200 px (WUXGA).
The output enables operation with an additional monitor and can be used to expand the visualisation workstation.
Audio and Local Signalling Support
The module has an input MIC / LINE IN on a 3,5 mm mini-jack connector.
An output for an external speaker and a LINE OUT function are also available.
The AUX interface can be configured as Alarm Output or Buzzer Output with a rated voltage of 24 V DC and current up to 50 mA.
Fieldbus Unit Support
The Open Box design enables connection of one optional Fieldbus Unit.
This allows the system to be expanded with an additional communication interface compatible with the expansion modules provided by Pro-face for SP5000.
For SP5000 Display Modules from 7″ Wide to 19″ Wide
The PFXSP5B412 module is installed on the rear of the appropriate SP5000 Display Module.
The manufacturer’s current table confirms Open Box compatibility with a wide range of Series displays, covering formats from the compact 7″ Wide to 19″ Wide.
From a Display Module or PFXZCDADEXP1 adapter
The rated voltage of the Box Module itself is 12 V DC.
In a typical SP5000 panel, power is supplied from the connected Display Module.
If PFXSP5B412 is to operate independently of the display, the following can be used: DC Power Supply Adapter PFXZCDADEXP1.
Fanless Industrial Design
Compact SP5000 Box Module
Standard version and Coated variant
PFXSP5B412 is the standard catalogue number for Open Box SP-5B412.
Variant PFXSP5B412F0C is based on the same model but has an additional Coated version designation.
If the order is specifically for PFXSP5B412, the F0C designation should not be added to the product name or description, and the device should not be presented as the Coated version.
