Pro-face PFXSP5B411 — Industrial Open Box with Windows 10
Pro-face PFXSP5B411 is an open SP5000 Series computing module combining the modular design of Pro-face operator panels with the capabilities of an industrial Windows platform.
The device uses Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2019 LTSC 32-bit and an Intel Atom processor, enabling compatible Windows applications to be run directly at the machine or production line.
The key feature of the PFXSP5B411 variant is the absence of factory-installed HMI Runtime. In hardware terms, it largely corresponds to the PFXSP5B412 model, but the HMI runtime software must be selected and installed separately if required by the specific application.
Open platform for HMI and Windows applications
Windows 10 IoT
Windows enables the use of specialised industrial applications, diagnostic tools and data processing software.
2× Gigabit Ethernet
Two network interfaces enable flexible integration of the device with automation and IT/OT infrastructure.
Modular Design
The Box Module can be connected to a selected SP5000 display or operate separately using a suitable power adapter.
Open HMI for Machines and Industrial Installations
The Same Hardware Platform, Different Software Scope
Pro-face distinguishes two Windows 10 Open Box variants: PFXSP5B411 and PFXSP5B412.
PFXSP5B411 is supplied without HMI Runtime, while PFXSP5B412 has this runtime environment factory-installed.
This makes PFXSP5B411 the right choice for applications requiring an open Windows platform where HMI software is to be selected separately or is not required.
Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2019 LTSC
PFXSP5B411 runs under Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2019 LTSC 32-bit.
The Windows platform allows the device to be used not only as the basis of a visualisation system but also as an industrial unit running compatible diagnostic, communication and utility applications.
Microsoft plans to end support for Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2019 LTSC in January 2029. Pro-face notes that after this date, further operating system updates will not be available for SP-5B411 and SP-5B412.
Intel Atom E3825 1,33 GHz
The unit uses an industrial processor Intel Atom E3825 clocked at 1,33 GHz.
The processor has two cores and two threads and 1 MB of L2 cache.
The design is fanless and uses natural air circulation, reducing the number of mechanical components requiring maintenance.
4 GB RAM and 32 GB CFast
PFXSP5B411 is equipped with 4 GB of DDR3L memory.
The main system storage medium is a 32 GB CFast card, which contains the Windows system. The manufacturer specifies approximately 17 GB of free user space.
The graphics system uses shared UMA memory of up to 256 MB.
Two Independent Gigabit Ethernet Ports
PFXSP5B411 features 2 RJ45 Ethernet ports.
10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T, providing transmission speeds of up to 1 Gb/s.
Two physical interfaces enable communication to be separated between the automation network, machine devices and supervisory infrastructure.
Two RS-232C / RS-422 / RS-485 Ports
The module features COM1 and COM2, each of which can operate as RS-232C, RS-422 or RS-485.
The interfaces use 9-pin D-Sub connectors and support transmission speeds up to 115200 bit/s.
This enables direct integration of PFXSP5B411 with PLC controllers, regulators, drives and other devices using serial communication.
3× USB Type-A and USB mini-B
PFXSP5B411 features 3 USB 2.0 Type-A ports and one USB 2.0 mini-B port.
Each Type-A port can supply up to 500 mA, with a maximum total available current of 1 A across all three ports.
The USB ports can be used to connect compatible peripherals, storage devices, service equipment and other accessories required by the application.
SD and two CFast slots
Open Box features one SD card slot intended for Storage memory.
Two CFast slots are also available: one for the operating system and the other for additional Storage memory.
The design with removable system media can simplify servicing and restoration of prepared device configurations.
Digital DVI-D Output
PFXSP5B411 features a digital DVI-D video output.
The maximum supported resolution is 1920 × 1200 px (WUXGA).
This allows an additional monitor to be connected and the system to be used in more advanced operator workstations.
Audio and Local Signalling
The module provides an input MIC / LINE IN on a 3,5 mm mini-jack socket.
A speaker output of at least 300 mW at 8 Ω and LINE OUT are also available.
The AUX output can operate as Alarm Output or Buzzer Output 24 V DC with current up to 50 mA.
Fieldbus Unit Installation Capability
PFXSP5B411 has an interface allowing installation of one optional Fieldbus Unit module.
This enables the platform to be expanded with additional communication capabilities according to the SP5000 expansion range.
One Open Box — Different Display Sizes
PFXSP5B411 is part of the modular SP5000 architecture and can be mounted on the rear of a compatible Display Module.
The current Pro-face table provides SP-5B411/SP-5B412 configurations covering SP5000 Series displays from 7″ Wide to 19″ Wide.
This enables the same computing platform to be retained while selecting the display size and type appropriate for the operator workstation.
From the Display Module or an Independent Adapter
The rated supply voltage of the Box Module itself is 12 V DC.
With standard mounting using a Display Module, power is supplied to the Box Module through the display.
If the Open Box is to operate independently of the Display Module, the following can be used: DC Power Supply Adapter PFXZCDADEXP1.
