Pro-face PFXLM4B01DDK — DIO Module with Sink Outputs
Pro-face PFXLM4B01DDK is an industrial LT4000M series rear module that can act as a compact HMI controller, data concentrator, and Multi-Converter communication gateway without requiring a permanently connected local display.
Built-in digital inputs and outputs allow direct handling of signals from sensors and actuators, while Ethernet, serial communication, CANopen, and USB enable integration with automation devices and supervisory systems.
Variant PFXLM4B01DDK is the version with Sink transistor outputs. This is an important difference compared with PFXLM4B01DDC, which uses Source outputs.
Control, communication and data acquisition in one module
Extended DIO
20 digital inputs and Sink outputs allow direct handling of signals from field devices.
Ethernet + Serial + CANopen
Multiple communication interfaces enable connection of devices using different protocols and buses.
Blind HMI
The module can operate without a local screen as an autonomous data collection and exchange node.
Compact controller and gateway for automation
Operation Without a Local Display
PFXLM4B01DDK can be used as a Multi-Converter / Multi-Data Box, meaning a standalone communication node without a permanently connected operator display.
In such a configuration, the device can collect data from equipment connected via Ethernet, serial port, CANopen, or built-in digital inputs and pass it on according to the GP-Pro EX configuration.
For mounting the module on a DIN rail, the manufacturer provides the adapter PFXZXMADSA1.
20 Inputs, 24 V DC
The module features 20 digital inputs designed to work with 24 V DC signals.
The inputs support both Sink and Source signals and work with 2- and 3-wire sensors.
Inputs I0 and I1 can also perform special functions as high-speed counter inputs or Pulse Catch inputs.
Counters up to 100 kHz
Two inputs can be configured as High-Speed Counter or Pulse Catch.
The maximum counter frequency is 100 kHz for a single-phase signal and 50 kHz for a two-phase counter.
Available modes include 2-phase ×2, 2-phase ×4, and variants with reversed counting direction.
Sink Transistor Outputs
PFXLM4B01DDK uses Sink transistor outputs.
There are 10 standard outputs and 2 high-speed outputs Q0 and Q1. Standard outputs can handle up to 0,3 A per point and a maximum of 3 A per common group.
High-speed outputs can perform Pulse Output, PWM, and High-Speed Counter match-output functions.
High-Speed Pulse Control
Special outputs enable pulse and PWM signal generation.
The maximum pulse output frequency is 50 kHz, while for PWM up to 65 kHz.
The function can be used in applications requiring fast pulse control, within the electrical limits specified by the manufacturer.
Ethernet 10/100 Mb/s
The module features 1 port Ethernet RJ45 compliant with IEEE 802.3.
The interface supports 10 Mb/s Half Duplex and 100 Mb/s Full Duplex with auto-negotiation and automatic crossover detection.
Ethernet can be used for communication with controllers, industrial devices, and supervisory systems supported by GP-Pro EX.
RS-232C or RS-485
The COM1 port uses a RJ45 and can operate as RS-232C or RS-485.
The maximum transmission speed is 115200 bit/s.
For RS-485, the manufacturer primarily provides a 2-wire connection, allowing integration with a wide range of controllers, regulators, and other industrial devices.
Built-in CANopen Master
PFXLM4B01DDK features an interface CANopen Master compliant with CAN-CiA / ISO 11898-2.
The interface uses a 9-pin male D-Sub connector and allows the module to be integrated into systems using the CANopen bus.
USB host and transfer port
The module features USB 2.0 Type-A and USB 2.0 mini-B.
USB Type-A can supply 5 V DC and up to 500 mA to compatible peripheral devices.
USB mini-B can be used for project transfer and service work, among other tasks.
16 MB Application and Logic Program Memory
PFXLM4B01DDK features 16 MB FLASH EPROM for the application.
The logic program area is 132 kB, corresponding to approximately 15 000 steps. In GP-Pro EX, it can be increased to approximately 60 000 steps at the cost of 1 MB of application memory.
128 kB nvSRAM is available for backup data storage, while the variable area is 64 kB nvSRAM.
Configuration from GP-Pro EX Ver. 3.60
PFXLM4B01DDK is on the current list of Multi-Converter models supported by GP-Pro EX.
The manufacturer specifies Multi-Data Box LT4000M support from GP-Pro EX Ver. 3.60.
The platform allows up to four communication drivers to be configured, enabling the device to be used as a gateway between different networks and devices.
Option to Use an LT4000M Display During Configuration
During project transfer, commissioning, or service work, the Rear Module can work with an LT4000M Display Module.
The manufacturer lists the modules PFXXM4200TP 3,5″ and PFXXM4300TP 5,7″.
In a Multi-Converter application, the display does not need to remain connected during normal device operation.
Standard 24 V DC
PFXLM4B01DDK is powered by the rated voltage 24 V DC.
The permissible input voltage range is 20–28,8 V DC.
The current detailed manufacturer data sheet specifies a maximum power consumption of approximately 7,4 W.
For Industrial Installations
Compact Module for Cabinet Installation
The Rear Module itself measures approximately 128 × 108 × 60,15 mm.
The module weighs approximately 353 g. With the mounting adapter installed, the total configuration weight increases to approximately 509 g.
PFXLM4B01DDK vs Other LT4000M Rear Module Versions
PFXLM4B01DDK is the DIO variant with Sink outputs.
PFXLM4B01DDC uses Source outputs, while PFXLM4B01DAK and PFXLM4B01DAC also include analogue inputs and outputs in addition to DIO.
When selecting the module, both the required I/O type and transistor output type should therefore be verified.
