Pro-face PFXLM4B01DAC — AIO + DIO Rear Module with Source Outputs
Pro-face PFXLM4B01DAC is an industrial LT4000M rear module combining logic controller functions, digital and analogue I/O, and a multi-protocol communication gateway.
The PFXLM4B01DAC variant is the Analogue I/O + Digital I/O version with Source transistor outputs. It offers 12 digital inputs, 6 standard and 2 high-speed digital outputs, 4 analogue input channels, and 2 analogue output channels.
With Ethernet, serial communication, CANopen, and USB, the device can act as a compact controller, data concentrator, or standalone Multi-Converter without requiring a permanently connected local display.
Analogue measurement, control and communication in one module
AIO + DIO
Built-in analogue and digital inputs and outputs reduce the need for additional I/O modules.
Source Output
Source transistor outputs enable operation with devices and installations using PNP logic.
Multi-Converter
The module can operate without a screen as an autonomous data collection and inter-device communication node.
Control and Measurement in Industrial Automation
Operation Without a Local Display
PFXLM4B01DAC can be used as a Multi-Converter / Multi-Data Box without a permanently connected Display Module.
The device can collect data from built-in I/O and devices connected via Ethernet, RS-232C/RS-485, and CANopen, and then exchange information between supported systems.
Pro-face allows configuration of up to 4 communication drivers. The PFXZXMADSA1 adapter is intended for mounting the Rear Module itself on a DIN rail.
12 Digital Inputs, Including 2 High-Speed Inputs
PFXLM4B01DAC features 12 digital inputs, 24 V DC.
Two of them can operate as high-speed inputs used by the High-Speed Counter and Pulse Catch functions.
The maximum high-speed counter frequency is 100 kHz for a single-phase signal and 50 kHz for two-phase operation.
Source Transistor Outputs
The DAC variant uses Source transistor outputs.
The module has 6 standard digital outputs and 2 additional high-speed outputs.
Standard outputs support loads up to 0,3 A per point, while high-speed outputs can perform Pulse Output, PWM, and High-Speed Counter Synchronize Output functions.
4 Analogue Channels for Process Signals and Temperature
PFXLM4B01DAC has a total of 4 analogue input channels.
Two standard 13-bit channels can measure voltage signals −10…10 V DC or 0…10 V DC and current signals 0…20 mA or 4…20 mA.
The other two channels are intended for temperature measurement and use a resolution of 16 bits. The LT4000M documentation provides support for thermocouples and selected resistance temperature sensors.
Thermocouples and Resistance Sensors
The two temperature channels can work with a wide range of sensors used in process automation.
The LT4000M documentation lists thermocouples J, K, R, B, S, T, E and N.
Resistance sensors are also supported Pt100, Pt1000, Ni100 and Ni1000. The temperature value resolution is 0,1°C.
2 Voltage or Current Channels
The module features 2 analogue outputs with 12-bit resolution.
Each channel can be configured as a voltage output −10…10 V or 0…10 V or current output 0…20 mA or 4…20 mA.
The outputs can be used, among other things, to provide setpoints to controllers, frequency converters, proportional valves, and other devices using standard analogue signals.
The manufacturer notes that when LT4000M Analog models start up, an output signal may briefly appear at the analogue terminals. Actuators should therefore be powered and designed with the module start-up sequence in mind.
Ethernet 10/100BASE-T
PFXLM4B01DAC features 1 port Ethernet RJ45 compliant with IEEE 802.3.
The interface supports 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX, auto-negotiation, and automatic crossover detection.
RS-232C / RS-485 and CANopen Master
The COM1 port can operate as RS-232C or RS-485 and uses an RJ45 connector.
The maximum transmission speed is 115200 bit/s. In addition, the device has a built-in CANopen Master on a 9-pin D-Sub connector.
USB host and service port
The module features USB 2.0 Type-A and USB 2.0 mini-B.
Type-A supports compatible peripheral devices, while mini-B can be used for project transfer and service operations.
16 MB application memory and logic support
PFXLM4B01DAC features 16 MB Flash EPROM available for the user application.
The logic program area is 132 kB, or approximately 15 000 steps. The program can be expanded to approximately 60 000 steps at the cost of 1 MB of application memory.
For backup data storage, the following is available 128 kB nvSRAM, while the variable area uses 64 kB nvSRAM.
Supported from GP-Pro EX Ver. 3.60
PFXLM4B01DAC is on the current list of Multi-Converter models supported by GP-Pro EX.
The minimum software version specified by the manufacturer for operation as a Multi-Data Box is GP-Pro EX Ver. 3.60.
Operation with LT4000M Displays
The Rear Module can work with Display Modules PFXXM4200TP 3,5″ and PFXXM4300TP 5,7″.
The display can be used during configuration, commissioning, and diagnostics. In a Multi-Converter application, it does not need to remain connected during normal operation.
24 V DC
PFXLM4B01DAC is powered by the rated voltage 24 V DC.
The current Multi-Data Box catalogue specifies the voltage range 20,4–28,8 V DC and maximum power consumption 10,4 W for LT4000M AIO + DIO variants.
Design for Industrial Applications
PFXLM4B01DAC vs Other LT4000M Rear Modules
PFXLM4B01DAC = AIO + DIO, Source Output.
PFXLM4B01DAK has the same set of analogue and digital I/O but uses Sink outputs.
PFXLM4B01DDC and PFXLM4B01DDK, in contrast, are DIO-only variants — they have more digital inputs and outputs but do not offer built-in analogue channels.
