EEM-XM377 — 100 A energy meter with Modbus TCP
Phoenix Contact EEM-XM377 1674501 is an EMpro family energy meter designed for direct current measurement up to 100 A AC and energy monitoring in single- and three-phase installations.
The device is a bidirectional meter, recording both imported and exported energy. It supports four-quadrant measurement and records basic electrical quantities, including currents, voltages, power, power factor and energy values.
Variant EEM-XM377 has an RJ45 Ethernet interface with Modbus TCP, enabling direct integration with PLC, SCADA and energy monitoring systems. Local reading is provided by a backlit LCD display.
Direct 100 A measurement, class C and Ethernet
100 A
The direct measurement path makes it possible to measure current without external current transformers.
Class C / 0,5
High active-energy measurement accuracy in accordance with EN 50470-3 and IEC 62053-21.
Modbus TCP
RJ45 Ethernet enables direct data transmission to an industrial supervisory system.
Energy measurement and billing
Current up to 100 A AC without transformers
The EEM-XM377 performs direct current measurement up to 100 A AC.
The reference current is 10 A, the minimum current is 0,3 A, and the starting current is 0,04 A.
The manufacturer specifies short-term overload capability of the measurement path at 30 × Imax for 0,01 s.
Single- and three-phase networks up to 480 V AC
The nominal meter voltage is 3 × 230 / 400 V AC.
The measurement range between phase and neutral is 100–277 V AC, while between phases it is 173–480 V AC.
The EEM-XM377 can be used in single-phase 2-wire and three-phase 3- and 4-wire networks.
Imported and exported energy in four quadrants
The EEM-XM377 is bidirectional meter, so it records both imported and exported energy.
The device performs four-quadrant measurement, enabling the direction of active and reactive energy flow to be distinguished.
The function allows the meter to be used also in installations where the direction of energy flow can change.
Class C for active energy
The EEM-XM377 complies with the MID Measuring Instruments Directive.
For active energy, the manufacturer specifies class C according to EN 50470-3 and class 0,5 according to IEC 62053-21.
Reactive energy is measured in class 2 according to IEC 62053-23.
RJ45 Ethernet for supervisory systems
The EEM-XM377 has one RJ45 Ethernet port with Modbus TCP protocol.
The interface operates at 100 Mb/s.
Measurement data can therefore be transmitted directly to PLC controllers, SCADA systems and local energy monitoring and management systems.
Fast availability of measured values
The manufacturer specifies the update time for active power as 100 ms.
Energy values are updated every 1 second.
This makes it possible to use the data both for energy billing and ongoing monitoring of installation parameters.
Backlit LCD for local reading
The meter is equipped with a LCD display with white backlight.
The maximum displayed energy value is 999999,99 kWh/kVArh.
The display makes it possible to check readings locally, independently of Ethernet communication with the supervisory system.
Metrological LED 400 imp/kWh
EEM-XM377 has a metrological LED pulse indicator.
The LED pulse constant is 400 imp/kWh.
The LED provides visual indication of pulses corresponding to recorded energy and can be used when checking operation of the measurement path.
Power directly from the measurement circuit
EEM-XM377 does not require a separate auxiliary power source.
The energy required to operate the device is drawn directly from the monitored measurement circuit.
The device consumption is a maximum of 10 VA / 2 W.
Protection class II and CAT III
EEM-XM377 has protection class II, overvoltage category III and pollution degree 2.
The device measurement category is CAT III 300 V.
The rated impulse voltage is 6 kV, while for EMC immunity tests the manufacturer specifies an impulse voltage of 4 kV.
Screw terminals for 25 mm² conductors
The main measurement path uses screw terminals.
Rigid and flexible conductors with cross-sections from 1,5 to 25 mm².
The stripping length is 12–13 mm, and the required terminal tightening torque is 3,5 Nm.
MID measurement at temperatures from −40 to +70°C
The operating temperature range for MID applications is −40…+70°C.
The operating temperature range of the LCD display itself is from 0 to +55°C.
Permissible operating humidity is 0 to 90% non-condensing, and the maximum installation altitude is 2000 m.
Compact 4 HP DIN-rail meter
The EEM-XM377 is intended for horizontal mounting on a DIN rail.
The device dimensions are 72 × 100 × 71 mm, and the width corresponds to four modular units.
After snapping onto an NS 35/7,5 rail, the depth is 65 mm. The device weight without packaging is 315 g.
4 HP
A width of 72 mm reduces the amount of space occupied in the distribution board.
DIN
Mounting on a standard NS 35/7,5 rail simplifies installation with other equipment.
315 g
The compact design combines a direct 100 A path with Ethernet communication.
