ECM-UC-100A-MRTU — configurable current transducer up to 125 A
Phoenix Contact ECM-UC-100A-MRTU 1191986 is a universal current transducer designed for measuring direct, alternating and distorted currents in industrial installations and automation systems.
The device uses a feed-through opening for the measured conductor and enables current measurement without routing the measured circuit through the transducer's electrical terminals. The range can be configured to suit the application, and the maximum setting range reaches 125 A AC/DC.
Version MRTU is equipped with an RS-485 interface with the Modbus RTU protocol. In addition, the USB-C port provides access to the built-in web interface and configuration of device parameters even when an external 24 V DC power supply is not connected.
Universal measurement, USB-C configuration and Modbus RTU communication
up to 125 A
The wide setting range allows one device to be adapted to different measurement circuits.
AC / DC
One transducer can measure direct current, alternating current and distorted waveforms.
Modbus RTU
RS-485 enables digital transmission of measurement values directly to the automation system.
Current measurement and monitoring in industrial installations
AC, DC and distorted currents
ECM-UC-100A-MRTU is designed for measurement of alternating current, direct current and distorted current waveforms.
The rated input range covers up to 100 A AC and from −100 to +100 A DC.
In accordance with IEC/EN 61010-1, the setting range can be extended to 125 A, which increases the flexibility of the device when adapting it to a specific circuit.
Measurement of a conductor routed through the enclosure
The measured conductor is routed through an opening in the transducer housing with a diameter of 11 mm.
The design allows the measured current path to be separated from the device's power supply and communication terminals.
The manufacturer specifies the possibility of using a round conductor with a cross-section up to 25 mm² / AWG 3.
Resistance to temporary current increases
The transducer is designed for operation in circuits where current values higher than the nominal measurement range may occur.
Phoenix Contact specifies a continuous overload capacity of 2 × IN, depending on the conductor routed through the device.
The short-term surge load capacity is as high as 20 × IN for 1 second.
Fast response to current changes
The 10–90% step response time is 200 ms for AC/DC measurement.
For direct current measurement, the device can achieve a response time of 20 ms.
This allows the transducer to be used not only for long-term load monitoring, but also for observing changes occurring in controlled electrical circuits.
Maximum transmission error 0.5%
The maximum transmission error of the ECM-UC-100A-MRTU is 0.5% of nominal range value under nominal conditions.
The maximum temperature coefficient is less than 0,03%/K.
The parameters enable stable current monitoring also in industrial applications operating over a wide temperature range.
Digital communication via RS-485
The ECM-UC-100A-MRTU version is equipped with an interface RS-485 with Modbus RTU protocol.
The standard communication configuration uses Modbus address 1, even parity, 8 data bits and 1 stop bit.
The default transmission speed is 19 200 Bd, and the corresponding registers enable measurement values to be transmitted to the controller or supervisory monitoring system.
USB-C and web interface without external power supply
One of the more important features of the ECM-UC-100A-MRTU is configuration via USB-C.
After connecting the device to a computer, the user gains access to the built-in WBM interface through a browser. The default interface address is 192.168.128.1.
Configuration via USB-C can be performed without connecting an external 24 V DC power supply, which simplifies preparation of the device before installation.
USB-C
The standard connector enables quick connection of the transducer to a computer.
Web Based
Parameters can be set through the built-in web interface without specialist software.
Without 24 V DC
No external device power supply is required for configuration via USB-C.
Wide range 9.6–30 V DC
The rated supply voltage of the device is 24 V DC.
The transducer can be powered over a wide range 9,6–30 V DC, which facilitates its use in typical industrial 12 V and 24 V DC power supply systems.
Maximum power consumption is 1.8 W at 30 V DC.
Safe isolation according to IEC/EN 61010-1
ECM-UC-100A-MRTU provides safe isolation according to IEC/EN 61010-1.
The test voltage between input and output and between input and power supply is 4 kV AC for 60 seconds.
Between the output and the power supply circuit, the test voltage is 2 kV AC. The device meets overvoltage category III requirements for 300 V.
Push-in technology
Power supply and communication are connected using convenient Push-in.
Solid and flexible conductors with cross-section from 0.2 to 2.5 mm².
The recommended stripping length is 10 mm.
From −40 to +60°C and altitude up to 4000 m
Narrow 22.6 mm module
The ECM-UC-100A-MRTU housing is only 22,6 mm, which reduces the space required in the control cabinet.
Device dimensions are 22,6 × 106,7 × 113,8 mm. After mounting on an NS 35/7.5 rail, the depth is approximately 114.5 mm.
The device can be mounted in either a vertical or horizontal position.
22,6 mm
The narrow design allows efficient use of space in the distribution board.
DIN
The design is adapted to a typical NS 35 mounting rail.
11 mm
The feed-through opening allows the measured conductor to be routed directly through the transducer.
