ECM-UC-10A-MTCP — configurable AC/DC current transducer
Phoenix Contact ECM-UC-10A-MTCP 1191970 is a universal measuring transducer designed for monitoring alternating, direct and distorted currents in industrial installations and automation systems.
The device offers four basic measurement ranges from 0–0.1 A to 0–10 A AC/DC, and through configuration the maximum input value can be set up to 12.5 A according to IEC/EN 61010-1.
Version MTCP is equipped with an RJ45 Ethernet interface with the Modbus TCP protocol. An additional USB-C port provides access to the built-in web interface and allows device configuration even without an external 24 V DC power supply connected.
Wide measurement range, Modbus TCP and USB-C configuration
up to 12.5 A
The configurable measurement range allows the transducer to be adapted to circuits with different current values.
AC / DC
One module can measure direct current, alternating current and distorted waveforms.
Modbus TCP
The RJ45 Ethernet port enables direct transmission of measurement data to the automation system.
Current measurement in automation and industrial installations
Four basic AC/DC current ranges
ECM-UC-10A-MTCP can be configured to operate in one of four basic measurement ranges: 0–0.1 A, 0–1 A, 0–5 A and 0–10 A AC/DC.
The minimum input value can be set in the range from 0 to 100 mA AC/DC.
The maximum range value can be configured up to 12.5 A AC/DC according to DIN/EN 61010-1. For applications compliant with UL 61010-1, the maximum value is 10 A.
Bidirectional DC measurement
For direct current, the device supports both positive and negative values.
The standard input range is −10…+10 A DC, while in accordance with DIN/EN 61010-1 the maximum setting range can reach −12,5…+12,5 A DC.
The ability to detect the direction of current flow is particularly useful in DC circuits where energy or current can flow in both directions.
Measurement of more than standard AC and DC signals
ECM-UC-10A-MTCP is designed for measurement of AC current, DC current and distorted waveforms.
This allows it to also be used in circuits with power electronics, power controllers and other loads where the current waveform deviates from an ideal sine wave.
Configurable frequency ranges allow the device characteristics to be adapted to a specific application.
Configurable range up to 1000 Hz
Phoenix Contact allows selection of several measurement frequency ranges.
Available ranges include 0–100 Hz, 0–200 Hz, 0–500 Hz and 0–1000 Hz.
This allows the transducer settings to be adapted both to standard mains installations and to applications with higher-frequency signals.
Maximum transmission error 0.5%
The maximum transmission error of the ECM-UC-10A-MTCP is 0.5% of nominal range value under rated conditions.
The maximum temperature coefficient is less than 0,03%/K.
The parameters allow the device to be used for continuous current monitoring in industrial applications operating over a wide temperature range.
Response time from 20 ms
The 10–90% step response time for AC/DC measurement is 200 ms.
For direct current measurement, the response time can be as short as 20 ms.
This allows not only steady-state values but also relatively fast load changes to be monitored.
Resistance to measurement-range exceedance
ECM-UC-10A-MTCP has a continuous overload capacity of 2 × IN.
The surge withstand of the device is 10 × IN.
This provides additional reserve during short-term current increases occurring in the monitored circuit.
RJ45 Ethernet for integration with automation
Version ECM-UC-10A-MTCP has an RJ45 Ethernet interface supporting the Modbus TCP protocol.
This allows measurement values to be transmitted digitally to PLC controllers, SCADA systems, energy management systems and other devices supporting Modbus TCP.
The factory IP address of the Modbus TCP interface is 192.168.1.2, and the default subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.
USB-C and built-in web interface
The transducer can be configured via USB-C port and built-in Web Based Management.
The USB-C connection allows the device to be configured through a browser even without an external 24 V DC power supply connected.
The default WBM interface address via USB-C is 192.168.128.1.
USB-C
The standard connector simplifies connecting the device to a computer during configuration.
WBM
Device parameters can be set through the browser-based interface.
Without 24 V DC
During configuration via USB-C, an external transducer power supply is not required.
Wide range 9.6–30 V DC
The nominal supply voltage is 24 V DC.
The wide operating range from 9.6 to 30 V DC allows the module to be used in various industrial power supply systems.
Maximum power consumption is 2.3 W at 30 V DC.
Safe isolation according to IEC/EN 61010-1
ECM-UC-10A-MTCP provides safe isolation according to IEC/EN 61010-1.
The test voltage between input and output and between input and power supply is 4 kV AC for 60 seconds.
Between the output and the power supply circuit, the test voltage is 2 kV AC. The device is intended for overvoltage category III at 300 V.
Fast Push-in technology
Electrical connections use Push-in, which enables quick conductor connection.
Solid and flexible conductors with cross-sections from 0.2 to 2.5 mm².
The recommended stripping length is 10 mm.
From −40 to +60°C and altitude up to 4000 m
Narrow 22.6 mm enclosure for DIN rail
ECM-UC-10A-MTCP is only 22,6 mm, so it occupies little space in the control cabinet.
Device dimensions are 22,6 × 106,7 × 113,8 mm, while the depth after clipping onto an NS 35/7.5 rail is 114.5 mm.
The manufacturer permits installation of the device in both vertical and horizontal positions.
