ECM-UC-10A-MRTU — configurable AC/DC current transducer
Phoenix Contact ECM-UC-10A-MRTU 1191969 is a universal measuring transducer designed for monitoring alternating, direct and distorted currents in automation systems and industrial installations.
The device offers four basic measurement ranges from 0–0.1 A to 0–10 A AC/DC, and the maximum range value can be configured up to 12,5 A AC/DC in accordance with IEC/EN 61010-1.
Version MRTU is equipped with an RS-485 interface with the Modbus RTU protocol. An additional USB-C port enables device configuration through the built-in web interface even when the transducer is not connected to an external 24 V DC power supply.
Wide measurement range, Modbus RTU and USB-C configuration
up to 12.5 A
The configurable measurement range allows one device to be adapted to different current circuits.
AC / DC
One transducer supports direct current, alternating current and distorted waveforms.
Modbus RTU
RS-485 enables digital transmission of measurement values directly to the automation system.
Current measurement in automation and industrial installations
Four basic AC/DC current ranges
ECM-UC-10A-MRTU can operate with four basic measurement ranges: 0–0.1 A, 0–1 A, 0–5 A and 0–10 A AC/DC.
The minimum input value can be configured in the range from 0 to 100 mA AC/DC.
The maximum input value can be set up to 12.5 A AC/DC according to DIN/EN 61010-1. For applications compliant with UL 61010-1, the maximum range is 10 A.
Bidirectional DC current measurement
For direct current, the device enables measurement of both positive and negative current values.
The standard input range is −10…+10 A DC.
The maximum setting range in accordance with DIN/EN 61010-1 can be −12,5…+12,5 A DC, while for UL 61010-1 the −10…+10 A DC range applies.
Measurement of AC, DC and non-sinusoidal signals
ECM-UC-10A-MRTU is designed not only for standard AC and DC waveforms, but also for measurement of distorted currents.
This allows the transducer to be used in circuits with power electronics, controllers, power regulators and other loads generating non-sinusoidal current waveforms.
The configurable frequency band additionally allows the measurement characteristics to be adapted to a specific application.
Configurable measurement bandwidth up to 1000 Hz
The device allows selection of several measurement frequency ranges.
Available ranges are 0–100 Hz, 0–200 Hz, 0–500 Hz and 0–1000 Hz.
This allows the transducer to be used both in standard 50/60 Hz circuits and in applications with higher signal frequencies.
Maximum transmission error 0.5%
The maximum transmission error of the ECM-UC-10A-MRTU is 0.5% of nominal range value under nominal conditions.
The maximum temperature coefficient is less than 0,03%/K.
The parameters enable stable current monitoring in industrial applications operating over a wide ambient temperature range.
Response time from 20 ms
The 10–90% step response time during AC/DC measurement is 200 ms.
For direct current measurement, the response time can be 20 ms.
This allows both steady-state values and relatively fast load changes in the monitored circuit to be recorded.
Reserve capacity during short-term current increases
ECM-UC-10A-MRTU has a continuous overload capacity of 2 × IN.
Surge withstand is 10 × IN.
This provides additional reserve in circuits where short-term current values exceeding the configured measurement range may occur.
RS-485 for integration with automation systems
Version ECM-UC-10A-MRTU is equipped with an interface RS-485 with Modbus RTU protocol.
The default communication configuration uses Modbus address 1, 8 data bits, even parity and 1 stop bit.
The default transmission speed is 19 200 Bd. This allows measurement data to be transmitted directly to PLC controllers, data concentrators or other devices supporting Modbus RTU.
USB-C and built-in web interface
ECM-UC-10A-MRTU can be configured via USB-C port and integrated Web Based Management.
After connecting the device to a computer, the configuration interface can be opened in a standard web browser.
For configuration via USB-C external 24 V DC power supply is not required, and the default WBM interface address is 192.168.128.1.
USB-C
The standard port enables quick connection of the device to a computer.
WBM
The transducer parameters can be changed using the browser-based interface.
Without 24 V DC
When configuring via USB-C, there is no need to connect an external power supply to the device.
Wide range 9.6–30 V DC
The nominal supply voltage of the ECM-UC-10A-MRTU is 24 V DC.
The permissible supply range is from 9.6 to 30 V DC.
The maximum power consumption of the device is 2 W at 30 V DC.
