EEM-SB371-C — EMpro energy meter with Rogowski coils and cloud communication
Phoenix Contact EEM-SB371-C 1158947 is a multifunction energy meter designed for measuring and monitoring electrical parameters in low-voltage installations up to 690 V AC.
The device uses direct inputs for Rogowski coils and enables current measurement up to 400 A or 4000 A. Measurement is performed using the True RMS method, and harmonic analysis covers components up to the 63rd order.
Variant EEM-SB371-C has no local display. Instead, it is equipped with Ethernet communication using Modbus TCP and REST and the option of direct connection to Proficloud.io via MQTT, without the need for an additional IoT gateway.
Rogowski, Ethernet and direct access to cloud services
up to 4000 A
Direct operation with Rogowski coils enables measurement of high currents without conventional 1 A or 5 A transformers.
Proficloud.io
The meter can provide data directly to Phoenix Contact cloud services using the MQTT protocol.
Modbus TCP
Measurement data can simultaneously be used by local PLC, SCADA and energy-management systems.
Energy monitoring in industrial installations
Direct current measurement up to 4000 A
The EEM-SB371-C has three measurement inputs RC1, RC2 and RC3 intended for direct connection of Rogowski coils.
Two measurement-range levels are available: up to 400 A and up to 4000 A.
When Phoenix Contact coils are used, the transmission ratio is 100 mV / 1000 A. The voltage input range of the current path is from 500 µV to 400 mV.
Direct measurement up to 690 V AC
The meter has three voltage inputs V1, V2 and V3.
The direct measurement range is 35–690 V AC phase-to-phase and 20–400 V AC phase-to-neutral.
When external voltage transformers are used, the primary-side value can be configured up to 2 000 000 V AC.
True RMS and harmonics up to the 63rd order
The EEM-SB371-C uses true RMS measurement.
The device analyzes current and voltage harmonics up to the 63rd harmonic.
As a result, in addition to basic energy monitoring, it can provide additional information about load characteristics and distortions present in the installation.
Class 1 for active energy
Voltage measurement accuracy is 0,2%, while for current measured using Rogowski coils it is 0,5%.
Power measurement accuracy is 1%.
Active energy is measured in class 1 according to IEC 62053-21, and reactive energy in class 2 according to IEC 62053-23.
Direct cloud connection via MQTT
The most important distinguishing feature of the EEM-SB371-C variant is the ability to connect directly to the Phoenix Contact Proficloud.io platform.
Communication with cloud services is carried out via MQTT. The manufacturer specifies port 8883 for MQTT and port 443 for HTTPS.
Direct connection enables use of Phoenix Contact digital services without installing a separate IoT gateway between the meter and the cloud platform.
MQTT
A lightweight communication protocol designed for transmitting data to Proficloud.io.
Without a gateway
The meter can connect directly to Phoenix Contact cloud services.
HTTPS
Communication and network operation use standard Ethernet and HTTPS mechanisms.
Measurement data available in Proficloud.io services
Phoenix Contact provides for the EEM-SB371-C to work with digital services on the Proficloud.io platform.
Supported services include, among others, Device Management Service, Time Series Data Service and EMMA Service.
This makes it possible to use meter data for remote device monitoring, time-series data recording and analysis of energy parameters.
Local integration with an automation system
A cloud connection does not exclude conventional integration with a local supervisory system.
The Ethernet interface supports Modbus TCP and REST and operates at 10 or 100 Mb/s.
As a result, the data can be used by PLC controllers, SCADA, BMS and local energy monitoring and management systems.
24 V DC digital I/O
The EEM-SB371-C has one digital input compliant with IEC/EN 61131-2, type 3.
The input operates with a 24 V DC signal and a voltage range from 0 to 30 V DC.
One 24 V DC digital output is also available with a maximum current of 100 mA.
Design without a local display
The EEM-SB371-C is a variant without a built-in display.
Configuration and commissioning can be performed using the integrated web server and guided setup wizard.
The solution performs well in installations where current values are read primarily from a local supervisory system or cloud platform.
AC or DC power supply
The EEM-SB371-C can be powered by AC or DC voltage.
The supply range is 100–230 V AC ±20% or 150–250 V DC ±20%.
The maximum power consumption of the device is 4 W.
Reinforced insulation and 4 kV AC test
The meter design uses reinforced insulation in accordance with IEC 61010-1 and IEC 61010-2-030 requirements.
The test voltage is 4 kV AC at 50 Hz for 60 seconds.
For the measurement input, measurement category III at 300 V AC and II at 600 V AC are specified.
Screw terminals
Current, voltage and power-supply circuits are connected via screw terminals.
For these circuits, rigid conductors with cross-sections of 0,2–6 mm² and flexible conductors of 0,2–4 mm² are supported.
Digital I/O and communication use terminals for rigid conductors 0,14–2,5 mm² and flexible conductors 0,14–1,5 mm².
Operation from −10 to +55°C
Compact 5-TE module for DIN rail
The EEM-SB371-C is intended for horizontal DIN-rail mounting.
Device dimensions are 90 × 80 × 82 mm, and the width corresponds to 5 modular units.
The enclosure has an IP20 protection rating and is designed for installation inside a suitably protected cabinet or distribution board.
5 TE
The compact width facilitates installation of the meter in a distribution board.
