ECM-UC-100A-UI — configurable current transducer up to 125 A
Phoenix Contact ECM-UC-100A-UI 1136513 is a universal measuring transducer designed for monitoring alternating, direct and distorted currents in industrial installations and automation systems.
The device enables AC current measurement up to 100 A and DC current measurement in the range from −100 to +100 A, while the maximum configurable input value can be 125 A AC/DC.
Version UI converts the measured value into a standard analog voltage or current signal. Thanks to a wide selection of output characteristics, it can work with typical analog inputs of PLC controllers, I/O modules, SCADA systems and recording devices.
Up to 125 A, True RMS measurement and universal U/I output
up to 125 A
The configurable range allows one transducer to be adapted to circuits with different load levels.
AC / DC
The device supports direct current, alternating current and distorted waveforms.
U / I
The analog output can operate in multiple standard voltage and current ranges.
Current and electrical-load monitoring
Measurement up to 100 A with configuration up to 125 A
The ECM-UC-100A-UI has a standard input range of 0–100 A AC and −100…+100 A DC.
Available basic measurement ranges are 0–50 A and 0–100 A AC/DC, which can be further adapted to a specific application.
The maximum setting according to DIN/EN 61010-1 is 125 A AC/DC. For bidirectional DC measurement, the range can be −125…+125 A DC.
Recording DC current-flow direction
When measuring DC current, the ECM-UC-100A-UI can record both positive and negative current values.
The standard range is −100…+100 A DC, while the maximum configurable range reaches −125…+125 A DC.
The function is useful, among other things, in systems with bidirectional energy flow, power-supply systems and other industrial DC circuits.
Main current path through an 11 mm opening
The measured conductor is routed directly through the 11 mm diameter opening located in the transducer housing.
This keeps the main current path separate from the device signal terminals.
Phoenix Contact permits a round conductor with a cross-section up to 25 mm² / AWG 3.
Measurement of direct, alternating and distorted currents
The ECM-UC series performs measurement according to the true root mean square True RMS.
This means it can measure not only conventional sinusoidal waveforms but also distorted currents occurring in installations with power-electronic equipment.
The transducer can be used, among other things, with inverters, power controllers, drives and other loads generating non-sinusoidal current waveforms.
Configurable measurement bandwidth up to 1000 Hz
The ECM-UC-100A-UI allows the measurement bandwidth to be adapted to the monitored installation.
Available ranges include 0–100 Hz, 0–200 Hz, 0–500 Hz and 0–1000 Hz.
This makes it possible to use the device both in standard 50/60 Hz installations and with signals containing higher-frequency components.
Maximum transmission error 0,5%
The maximum transmission error of the ECM-UC-100A-UI is 0,5% of the nominal range value under normal conditions.
The maximum temperature coefficient is less than 0,02%/K.
The parameters provide stable measurement also with temperature changes occurring in industrial cabinets and distribution boards.
Response time from 20 ms
The 10–90% step response time is 200 ms during AC/DC measurement.
For DC measurement, the device can achieve a response time of 20 ms.
This makes it possible to monitor both stable loads and relatively fast current changes.
Resistance to temporary current increases
The ECM-UC-100A-UI has continuous overload capability of 2 × IN, depending on the conductor routed through the device opening.
Short-term surge load capability is 20 × IN for 1 second.
This provides additional margin during transient current increases, for example when starting loads.
Wide selection of voltage and current signals
The ECM-UC-100A-UI converts the measured current value into a standard analog signal voltage or current.
Available signals include voltage outputs 0–10 V, 0–5 V, 1–5 V, 2–10 V, −10…+10 V and −5…+5 V.
The current output can operate in the 0–20 mA or 4–20 mAstandard. Reversed characteristics 20–0 mA and 20–4 mA are also available.
USB-C and Web Based Management
Transducer parameters can be set via USB-C interface and integrated Web Based Management.
For configuration via USB-C external 24 V DC power supply is not required. This makes it possible to prepare the device before installing and connecting it in the control cabinet.
The default WBM interface address is 192.168.128.1.
USB-C
A standard USB-C cable is sufficient to connect the device to a computer.
WBM
Configuration is performed directly in a web browser, without specialized software.
Without 24 V DC
During USB-C configuration, an external device power supply is not required.
Wide range from 9,6 to 30 V DC
The nominal supply voltage of the device is 24 V DC.
The permissible power-supply range is from 9,6 to 30 V DC, providing high tolerance to voltage variations in an industrial power installation.
Maximum power consumption is 2 W at 30 V DC.
Safe isolation according to IEC/EN 61010-1
The ECM-UC-100A-UI provides safe isolation according to IEC/EN 61010-1.
The test voltage between input and output and between input and power supply is 4 kV AC for 60 seconds.
Between output and power supply, the test voltage is 2 kV AC. The overvoltage category and measurement category are III at 300 V.
Push-in technology
Power supply and analog signals are connected using Push-in terminals.
Solid and flexible conductors with cross-section from 0.2 to 2.5 mm².
The recommended stripping length is 10 mm.
From −40 to +60°C and altitude up to 4000 m
Narrow 22,6 mm DIN-rail module
The ECM-UC-100A-UI is only 22,6 mm, allowing efficient use of space in the control cabinet.
Device dimensions are 22,6 × 106,7 × 113,8 mm. After mounting on an NS 35/7.5 rail, the depth is 114.5 mm.
The manufacturer permits mounting in both vertical and horizontal positions.
