Pro-face PFXLM4B01DDC — DIO Module with Source Outputs
Pro-face PFXLM4B01DDC is an industrial LT4000M rear module designed for control, data collection, and automation device integration.
The device combines logic functions, built-in digital inputs and outputs, and Ethernet, serial, CANopen, and USB communication. It can therefore operate both as part of an HMI system and as a standalone Multi-Converter / Multi-Data Box.
PFXLM4B01DDC is a variant DIO with Source transistor outputs. This is the key difference compared with the PFXLM4B01DDK model, which uses Sink outputs.
Control and communication in one compact module
20 digital inputs
The large number of inputs allows signals from sensors, buttons, and other field devices to be handled directly.
Source Outputs
10 standard and 2 high-speed transistor outputs allow control of devices compatible with Source/PNP logic.
Multi-Converter
The module can operate without a local screen as an industrial data gateway and communication node.
Machine Automation and Data Integration
Operation as a Blind HMI Without a Local Screen
PFXLM4B01DDC can operate as a standalone Multi-Converter without a permanently connected Display Module.
In this configuration, the device can collect data from devices via Ethernet, serial port, CANopen, and built-in digital inputs, and then exchange it between supported systems.
Pro-face provides configuration of up to 4 communication drivers, allowing the module to be used as a gateway between different devices and protocols.
To mount the Rear Module on a DIN rail without a display, the following is required Rear Module Installation Adapter PFXZXMADSA1.
20 Digital Inputs, 24 V DC
The module features 20 standard digital inputs, two of which can also be used as high-speed inputs.
The inputs are designed for 24 V DC signals and can work with both Sink and Source circuits.
The special inputs can perform functions including High-Speed Counter and Pulse Catch.
High-Speed Pulse Counting up to 100 kHz
Two special inputs can be configured as High-Speed Counter.
For a single-phase signal, the maximum counting frequency is 100 kHz.
For two-phase operation, counting at frequencies up to 50 kHz is possible.
Source-type transistor outputs
PFXLM4B01DDC uses Source transistor outputs.
The module features 10 standard outputs and 2 additional high-speed outputs designed for special functions.
Standard DIO outputs support current up to 0,3 A per point and 3 A per common group.
The outputs do not have internal short-circuit protection, so the installation should be designed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations for circuit protection.
High-Speed Outputs for Pulse Control
The two high-speed outputs can perform Pulse Output, PWM and High-Speed Counter Synchronize Output.
The maximum Pulse Output frequency is 50 kHz, while the PWM signal can reach a frequency of 65 kHz.
For high-speed outputs, the manufacturer specifies current up to 50 mA per point and 100 mA per common group.
Ethernet 10/100BASE-T
PFXLM4B01DDC features 1 port Ethernet RJ45.
The interface supports 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX with auto-negotiation and automatic crossover detection.
Ethernet can be used for communication with PLCs, industrial devices, and data collection systems supported by GP-Pro EX.
RS-232C or RS-485
The COM1 port uses a RJ45 and can operate as RS-232C or RS-485.
The maximum transmission speed is 115200 bit/s.
For RS-232C, the manufacturer specifies a maximum cable length of 15 m, while for RS-485 it is up to 200 m when suitable shielded cabling is used.
Built-in CANopen Master
PFXLM4B01DDC features CANopen Master interface compliant with CAN-CiA and ISO 11898-2.
The interface uses a 9-pin D-Sub connector and enables integration of compatible CANopen devices without an additional communication module.
USB host and transfer port
The Rear Module is equipped with USB 2.0 Type-A and USB 2.0 mini-B.
The Type-A port can work with compatible peripherals, memory devices, and Pro-face USB solutions.
USB mini-B can be used for project transfer and service operations.
16 MB application memory and logic support
PFXLM4B01DDC features 16 MB FLASH EPROM available for the user application.
The logic program area is 132 kB, corresponding to approximately 15 000 steps. GP-Pro EX allows it to be expanded to approximately 60 000 steps at the cost of 1 MB of application memory.
Backup data is stored in 128 kB nvSRAM, while the variable area uses 64 kB nvSRAM.
Supported from GP-Pro EX Ver. 3.60
The current Pro-face list still includes PFXLM4B01DDC as Multi-Converter for LT4000M.
The minimum supported engineering software version is GP-Pro EX Ver. 3.60.
For newer LT4000M hardware revisions using modified NAND memory, the manufacturer recommends checking the GP-Pro EX version. After updating the device using Ver. 4.09.450 or later, returning to an earlier project version may not be possible.
3,5″ or 5,7″ Display During Configuration
The Rear Module can work with LT4000M family Display Modules.
The manufacturer specifies PFXXM4200TP 3,5″ and PFXXM4300TP 5,7″.
When operating as a Multi-Converter, the screen can be used during configuration, project transfer, and diagnostics, but does not need to remain connected during normal operation.
24 V DC and Low Power Consumption
PFXLM4B01DDC is powered by the rated voltage 24 V DC.
The manufacturer’s current Multi-Data Box catalogue specifies the permitted range 20,4–28,8 V DC.
For the DIO variants PFXLM4B01DDC and PFXLM4B01DDK, current manufacturer documentation specifies a maximum power consumption of 7,4 W.
For Industrial Applications
PFXLM4B01DDC a PFXLM4B01DDK
PFXLM4B01DDC = DIO Source Output Type.
PFXLM4B01DDK = DIO Sink Output Type.
Both models have the same basic functionality, number of digital I/O, memory, and communication interfaces. However, the correct transistor output type matching the electrical architecture of the installation must be selected.
